Keep Clam – Football Season is Back, and so are Ivar’s Sea-vents


Every year, Seattleites not-so-patiently await the return of football season. Well the time has come for football festivities to begin! Ivar’s is bringing back its fan favorites to celebrate and is welcoming new additions to the clam-ily. Can’t wait to sea for yourself? Here’s a roundup of what to expect this year.

  • Enjoy game-day sailgating from Ivar’s Salmon House to Husky Stadium. With a brunch or dinner buffet, free parking and a round-trip charter boat ride on Argosy Cruises from the restaurant to the game and back, this is a true sail-ebration unique to Ivar’s.   • We’re Dawg and Hawk Super Fans. Sure, every other Seattle football fan will say the same, but we think some of the biggest fans work right in our Seafood Bars and restaurants! From creating signature cocktails dedicated to the home team to our staff showing 12th Clam pride at all our locations, you’ll have to see for yourself just how enthusiastic our employees are for the team of blue and green.

  • Blue Fridays are back at Ivar’s! Show your 12th Clam pride by wearing blue and green to receive Ivar’s Blue Friday specials throughout the season. At Ivar’s Acres of Clams, Salmon House and Mukilteo Landing, enjoy deals including $12 crab cake appetizers (Sept), $12 bottles of wine (Oct), $12 fish tacos (Nov) and $12 calamari (Dec). At our Seafood Bars, grab a $1.20 regular-size drink (Sept), $1.20 green beans (Oct), $12 for three chowder bowls (Nov) and $12 for two entrees (Dec).   • New End Zone Specialty Drinks will be available during home games at Ivar’s Acres of Clams, with early happy hour and pre-funking starting at 10 a.m. This year Ivar’s is bringing the Blitz, a sour apple infused vodka and blue curacao layered shot; the Kickoff, a Red Bull Yellow Edition with a shot of Malibu Rum and splash of OJ; The Pigskin, a bacon or habañero-infused vodka with Bloody Mary mix, poached prawns, bacon, olives green beans, celery and optional pepperoni straw; and the Hawkrita with Sauza tequila, sour, Midori and a float of blue curacao. The Kick-Off Cocktail

 Serves 1



  • 1.5 oz. Malibu rum
  • 1 Tropical Yellow Edition Red Bull
  • Orange Juice 


  •  Mix Malibu rum and Tropical Red Bull over ice and add a splash of orange juice


  • Enjoy Ivar’s-style tailgating food with a recipe to make your friends and family before the game! Be careful:  it’s delicious, so don’t be shellfish and be sure to share with everyone!

Jalapeño Cilantro Marinated Prawns with Grilled Corn Salad

 Serves 4 – 5


 For Jalapeño Marinade

3 pounds of prawns

  • 2 bundles of cilantro
  • 4 limes, zested and juiced
  • 3 large jalapeños or habaneros if you like it really hot
  • 1 bulb garlic, peeled
  • 1 T fresh ground black pepper
  • 3 oz honey
  • 7 oz canola oil
  • 3 oz olive oil
  • 1 T sea salt

For Charred Corn Salad

  • 6 ears fresh corn
  • 2 red peppers
  • 1 sweet onion
  • 1 poblano chili
  • 1 bunch of cilantro, leaves picked
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • Salt and pepper to taste 


1.     Blend all marinade ingredients together until very smooth.

2.     Marinate prawns at least overnight but up to two days.

3.     Skewer and grill or just right on the grill.

4.     Peel corn and onions, cut onions into rings, season corn, onion and chilis with oil, salt, pepper and any other spices you prefer such as ground coriander, ground cumin and ancho chili powder.

5.     All vegetables should be grilled and corn should have a nice char on the kernels. The peppers should be charred on all sides and then peeled. 

6.     Cut kernels from corn. 

7.     Peel and dice the chilis and onions and mix together with lime juice and cilantro.

8.     Season with salt and pepper to taste.

9.     Serve grilled prawns with corn salad. Enjoy!
